Well this is my first blog post. And I'm not sure how frequently I'll be able to write out a post. But I hope to be able to share my thoughts, give updates on various feature enhancements, and maybe some travel tips and other things.

Journeys.Cafe started out as a bunch of spreadsheets in my Google Drive. I've always loved travelling, and being a bit of planner I've always thought about making the "best" plans. I'm not really sure anymore if there is a "best" plan. But I am really confident that there is a "best" plan for you. So I started by just putting together little trips in a spreadsheet. Like I'm sure most if not all of you have.

Here's the problem. Spreadsheets were not built for planning vacations to Japan, or Europe, or exploring New Zealand, or going on a road trip across the US. They're designed for numbers and budgets, and business. So an idea started to form in my head, "man it would be so nice to have a tool that actually knew about travel."

Then I got to work. Just a few months after getting married actually. If I was smart and had thought about it I would have taken a bunch of screenshots through the ages to see how it slowly evolved across the years. It has been 3+ years since starting it. And honestly, it's so different. And in another 3 years, it will be even more different.

There are a lot of things I would do differently if I would start this project over. From different technologies that I use, to how I handle tracking/planning, to well just about anything that you can think of. But that's the fun thing about building something, you learn a whole lot.

Anyway, I didn't intend for this blog post to be that long. And mostly this was just a test of how to even do a blog at all! But I can't thank you enough for reading this. It means a lot that people have even willingly tried out anything I have made. So thank you so much! I hope all your Journeys are wonderful!
